Friday Night - Rehearsal Dinner
The crowd begins to gather at Nick's Roman Terrace, home of Greek and Italian cuisine.
At the head of the table, my cousin Paul takes a break from greeting the guests.
OK, we're just about ready to go.
Carla and Paul, in a candid moment between the appetizer ("apps," as our server called them) and the main course.
"Y'all need any more apps? Somethin' for you darlin'?" was one of her quotes from the evening.
My Uncle Mike starts the evening off with some remarks.
Many people followed with kind words...
...including my cousin Matt...
...and the bride's mother.
Uncle Mike then got up again with a few of his siblings and proceded to sing (?) a John Denver song. I even got a video of the whole production.
Hey, it's my Grandpa! Little did I know that this would be the first in a series of Grandpa-centric pictures. OK, so it's a series of two, but who's counting? Except me.

Saturday - The Main Event
The next day, it was time for the actual wedding. It took place at the Richmond Friends Meetinghouse, a local Quaker establishment.
You can't really tell from this picture, but my Dad is being the designated greeter just inside the doors.
Hey, it's a bunch of people!
Ooh, and even more people.
And it's Grandpa again... looking especially snazzy in his tuxedo.
Various male members of my side of the family, doing a good job of unintentionally blocking the doorway.
Shh... the ceremony is beginning. I didn't get many pictures of the actual event, but I know the wedding photographer did. Paul's cousin Mike also got a fair number of good pictures during the ceremony, and has posted them on his website. You should check them out, they're much better than mine. And far more punctual as well.
But anyway, on to the important parts of the afternoon. Who cares about the actual "wedding" portion of the event, let's get to the food. Here is the table spread, in all its pre-consumption glory.
While we were all pigging out inside, the wedding party was stuck being photographed in every possible combination from every conceivable angle. Naturally, they were out there for a while.
They are all obviously thrilled to be out in the heat, you can see it on their faces.
The ringbearer and flower girl. Aww.
Ooh, I forgot to mention the extensive dessert table.
And the fondue fountain. It wasn't until we were putting it away that we actually took the time to read the directions and figured out that there were air bubbles stuck in the chocolate's Archimedes' screw, preventing it from flowing properly. Oh well.
In addition to being covered in tasty food items, the table was also tastefully decorated.
Pictures continue to be taken outside. This is about 15 minutes after the last pictures of people outside, just for reference.
I experimented with some artsy shots... this is the only one that even came close to working.
Check out the barrage of photography in this picture. Including me, there are at least four people taking pictures of them at the same time. It would be more, except extended cousin Mike is taking a break at the moment.
Gifts!
The cake!
About three seconds before I took this picture, Uncle Mike was doing a good Vanna White impression. Unfortunately for you, my camera just missed it.
Check out the happenin' party.
It was at about this time that a few of my other cousins snuck out to "decorate" the groom's vehicle. Who was it? I'm not telling, and neither will these pictures, because you definitely can't just go back to the other pictures and figure out from their clothing who everybody is, no sir.
Interesting story: the cheap little bell you can see hanging from the rear view mirror in this picture took the mirror with it when they tried to remove it after driving off. I think they are looking for some good adhesives to put it back on at the moment.
No pranked car would be complete without "Just Married" written on the back.
After putting a few finishing touches on the vehicle, we all rushed back inside in order to be back in time for the cutting of the cake. No, I didn't mess up this picture - that side of the room was just naturally blurry. No, I'm not being at all sarcastic, why do you ask?
And now, for a montage of family photos. Here's half of Paul's family...
...and here's the other half, where I reside...
...and this is some configuration of Carla's family, with which I am not that familiar.
And now, for a speedy getaway.
Paul gets a little going away present from a few of his cousins.
It took the car's decorators a while to remember where they'd left the keys.
For real, they're getting ready to go.
Seriously.
Finally, they're off. Whew, good riddance. I mean... we'll see them again soon.
"Hey, everybody wave! OK, then, everybody who's paying attention to me, wave!"
OK, they're gone, now what?
And now it's time for me to close the door on this album.
EDIT: By popular demand, a picture with me in it.
