Everybody got together in the parking lot in an attempt to find rides to the cascades. Kevin, Jeremy, David, and I all happened to be wearing the same shirt, therefore, this is one of the best pictures ever.
After arrival, the group began the trip up the hill.
The hike is very steep and picturesque. In some places, there are even stairs. These stairs typically occur when passing smaller waterfalls, as the stream is very rocky.
Finally, 2.5 miles later, we reached the falls themselves. The approach from downstream is ridiculously scenic.
In preparation for entering the spray area of the falls, members of the group took of their shoes and blah, blah, blah.
Oooh, ahh, very... cascading.
So, Jeremy decided to get a small group shot. However, right before he snapped the picture, he said "Hold on, I'm getting a little bit too much glare off of Ryan." Anyways, at the time I thought it was funny. And now, looking at this picture and seeing Ryan's reaction, I think it is hillarious.
But speaking of glare, Erin (the RA) really is quite reflective.
Come on, freshmen girls, the water isn't THAT cold. Oh wait, I lied. It is FREEZING.
One cool thing about the cascades is that through some geologic process that I don't understand there is a shelf of rocks running 3/4 of the way around the pool at the base of the falls, meaning that you can actually walk around and get underneath the falls. Hence this group shot. And its associated video.
Heh, look at those upperclassmen. They're missing out. And laughing at us from the observation boardwalk, apparently.
But seriously, you do get a good view of the falls from this level.
And let's close with a group shot. OK, now everybody rush out of the water, because it is really cold. Let's get back to Hillcrest for a wonderful cookout dinner... in the Dining Room.
